Configuring shift schedules and rosters
How to define work shifts, create weekly rosters, handle rotating shifts, and assign schedules to employees.
Shifts and rosters in Dapplon
Dapplon lets you define the standard working hours for your organisation and assign specific shifts to employees or departments. This is important for:
- Calculating late arrivals and early departures accurately
- Determining overtime based on hours beyond the shift window
- Generating attendance compliance reports
Creating a shift
- Go to Attendance > Shifts
- Click Add Shift
- Name the shift (e.g., Morning Shift, Night Shift, Flexi-Time)
- Set the Start Time and End Time
- Set the Grace Period for late arrival (e.g., 15 minutes — arrivals within 15 minutes of start time are not marked late)
- Set the Work Hours for the day (e.g., 8 hours)
- Choose which days are working days in this shift (Mon-Fri, Mon-Sat, etc.)
- Click Save
Assigning a shift to employees
- Go to Attendance > Roster
- Click Assign Shift
- Select the department, team, or individual employees
- Choose the shift from the dropdown
- Set the Effective From date
- Click Assign
Creating a rotating roster
For manufacturing, healthcare, or BPO companies with rotating shifts:
- Go to Attendance > Roster
- Click Create Rotating Schedule
- Define the rotation pattern: weekly, bi-weekly, or custom
- Assign shifts to each slot in the rotation
- Assign employees to the rotation group
- Dapplon automatically assigns the correct shift on each day based on the rotation
Note
Rotating rosters require all employees in the group to follow the same rotation. For individual custom schedules, use manual shift overrides instead.
