Approving and rejecting leave requests
How leave approval workflows work in Dapplon, and how to approve, reject, or manage leave requests on behalf of employees.
How leave requests flow in Dapplon
When an employee submits a leave request through the Employee Portal or mobile app, it enters an approval queue. Dapplon routes the request based on your configured approval hierarchy:
Single approval — the direct manager approves. Suitable for small teams.
Two-level approval — the direct manager approves first, then the HR admin provides a second approval. Suitable for larger companies.
HR-only approval — all requests go directly to the HR team, bypassing department managers.
You set the approval hierarchy in Settings > Leave > Approval Workflow.
Reviewing and approving a request
- In the left sidebar, go to Leave > Approvals
- You see a list of all pending requests, showing employee name, leave type, dates, and reason
- Click a request to expand the detail view
- Review the employee's remaining leave balance on the right side
- Check the team calendar to see if other team members are absent on the same dates
- Click Approve or Reject
- If rejecting, enter a reason — this is shown to the employee in their portal
Approving multiple requests at once
- On the Leave > Approvals page, check the boxes next to multiple requests
- Click Bulk Approve at the top of the list
- Confirm the action — all selected requests are approved simultaneously
Note
Bulk approve applies to all selected requests regardless of type. Review carefully before bulk approving.
Editing or cancelling approved leave
- Go to Leave > Leave History
- Find the approved leave entry
- Click Edit to change the dates, or Cancel to reverse the approval
- The employee is notified automatically by email
Adding leave on behalf of an employee
If an employee forgot to apply or was absent without notice:
- Go to Leave > Leave History
- Click Add Leave
- Select the employee, leave type, and dates
- Mark whether it should be paid or unpaid
- Click Save — this records the leave directly without requiring employee action
In this section
- Setting up leave types and policies
- Tracking attendance and viewing timesheets
